Bogota
(Spanish: Bogotá) is the capital of Colombia. Inhabited by about 7.8 million people and has a population of city suburbs 8.5 million people in an area of approximately 1587 km2. The economic and political center of the country. Chosen by the UNESCO World Book as the capital in 2007.
Location
Bogota, Bogota is located on a plateau 2,640 meters above sea level, on the Andes in central Colombia.
Established
Foundations Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada, a Spanish military commander defeated Alchpicha Indians who lived in this region, Bogota in 1538. And called the name of Bogota Bakata which is one of the cities Alchpicha Indians.
History
The city was the capital of the Spanish colony called New Granada, and in 1821 became the capital of Great Colombia, which include what is known now republics of Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela.
Population
A population of 5484244 people. The population of Bogota has more than doubled between 1963 m and 1973 m. And caused many problems for this rapid population growth, such as traffic congestion, housing shortages and increased crime.
And lives in Bogota large numbers of poor people in temporary shelters crowded and dirty called Barrios, and owns most of the luxury homes of the rich and luxurious, and the lives of many children of the middle class in comfortable lodgings.
Nature
Give towering mountains that surround most of Bogota natural background full of movement and gravity. And moving taxis between Bogota and one of the peaks which are called Monserrate, a mountain takes the subject of sightseeing attractions.
There on the mountainside mansion was owned by Gen. Simon Bolivar, the South American and is now used by the museum exposure belongings and Collectibles Bolivar and South America's struggle for independence.
There in the center of the city of Bogota's main square, a Bolivar Square, surrounded by old palaces with Network Rail intersecting narrow streets close to the field as well as surrounded by carved wooden doors and ceilings with brown tiles.
The central city is also historic buildings stand side by side with modern office buildings and hotels.
And other central buildings of the Capitol (parliament building), and the presidential palace, and many museums.
It contains a museum on the gold holdings of many of the treasures of gold, which carved the Indians of this region in their hands for hundreds of years.
